ABOUT LETTERPRESS

Letterpress is a handmade process. I may manually control ink supply and feed each item one at a time. Every print may vary with ink coverage, ink colour, saturation and hue, impression, registration and other characteristics and I do not honour claims for a refund or reprint due to these reasons. Designs with large areas or block of colour will not be ‘solid’ and will appear grainy or salty.  With finer details, less ink is used to maintain the details and with large areas of artwork, there will be less impression. Letterpress inks are transparent and ink colours may vary depending on the colour of paper. I hand-mix custom colours, so ink colours may differ from what you see on your computer screen. I try my best to closely match the colour you desire and recommend sending a physical swatch if you have a specific colour in mind. I use Pantone’s (solid uncoated) system to colour match and mix ink as best as I can. As both of my presses are antiques, there lies the possible circumstance that something may break. If this happens, it is highly unlikely it will be a quick fix. In this circumstance, I will inform you of the status of your order and may issue a full refund if needs be.

DESIGN FEES AND REVISIONS

I design from the briefing I receive from you during consultation, so it’s best to be as detailed as possible. My design fee is non-refundable and is due prior to any design work. I will send an invoice for the design fee after consultation along with a contract to sign. I aim to provide your concept design within 4 weeks and the design fee includes two revisions to the concepts. You will receive a PDF proof with each revision.  Any further changes to the design will incur a fee of £40 an hour, with a minimum of one hour’s work, so be sure to gather all your changes in a thorough and concise email.

Once the concept is finalised, I proceed to stationery design. I aim to provide your stationery design within 3 weeks from concept approval and receipt of all finalised wording. You receive one free round of revisions at the stationery design stage. However, any changes to the fundamental concept will incur a fee, this includes things such as paper or fonts. Changing fonts will incur a fee of £40 per item of stationery. Changing paper or stock will incur a fee of £75.  Any other fundamental concept changes will be priced at the time.

PROOFS

You will receive digital PDF proofs of your designs. Due to the intensive setup and cost of letterpress and other fine printing processes, I do not offer hard copy proofs.

PRODUCTION

Production slots are not scheduled until initial payment has been made.  I aim to fulfil orders within 4-8 weeks after the stationery design has been signed-off. Orders needed quicker than 8 weeks (from final stationery approval) will incur as rush fee of £250. If a full turnaround (from consultation to completion) is needed quicker than 8 weeks and my schedule allows, there is a rush fee of £500.  I depend on various suppliers to fulfil orders. In the rare occasion there are delays beyond my control, I will keep you up to date with your order.

PAYMENT

I prefer customers to pay via bank transfer because it’s fast, reliable and secure. My account information will be provided on all invoices.

ADDITIONAL COSTS

If my costs increase due to changes in your order or any other unforeseen reason, I reserve the right to make adjustments to the price and may ask for this additional payment before continuing production.I also reserve the right to make adjustments to the price, to take account of any increase, or the imposition of, any taxes or duties.

SHIPPING

I send all items recorded and fully covered. Normally, there is a standard charge of £25 per package. I am not responsible for any delays, damages or loss caused by the carrier. However, I always purchase insurance to cover the value of the order. I also am not responsible for any errors on your part (i.e. supplying an incomplete or incorrect address, delivery to a neighbour or not collecting a package from depots). Please note that for international deliveries, you are responsible for all import duties and taxes. International delivery may also exceed expected delivery time.

CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS AND REPLACEMENTS

My design and commission fee is non-refundable. In the very unlikely event you should decide not to proceed with production once design work has commenced, this fee is non refundable as it covers the work I’ve undertaken.

I will only print according to the approved proof. If any replacements are required due to errors, they will be charged in full. I am not responsible for any mistakes printed unless I deviate from the approved proof. Therefore, I recommend you check very carefully all information, design, grammar, spelling and size prior to final approval. As stated previously, every print may vary with ink coverage, ink colour, impression, registration and other characteristics and I do not honour claims for a refund or reprint due to these reasons.

Due to the bespoke nature of my business, quantities cannot be reduced once production begins and I do not offer returns or refunds.

In extreme circumstances, orders may be cancelled after production begins and I reserve the right to keep full payment and any partial refund is at my discretion, but I will always be fair.

HANDMADE PAPER

As some of our collections use handmade paper, it’s important to understand that the characteristics in the paper may vary widely. One batch of paper or envelopes may not look the same as another batch and it’s important to embrace this one-of-a-kind nature. I believe it is what makes the handmade so beautiful and I make no guarantee as to the colour, shape, size, texture and printability of any handmade papers.

Any changes after the two free rounds of revisions will be chargeable at £40/hour.
